Join Us in
our Newest Campaign!
RODNEY GOES GREEN! "A Program to encourage youth to reduce pollution" WayOut Kids is gearing up to work on an environmental project/program to encourage change in the behaviors among Puget Sound residents and reduce polluted runoff and the negative impact it has on the Sound. Our program will educate Pierce County youth on how their activities affect Puget Sound’s water quality and how their behaviors contribute to polluted runoff. There’s a diverse spectrum of residents who might not otherwise establish a personal connection with Puget Sound and it is essential that they see themselves as part of the solution not just part of the problem. By joining our Go Green campaign and sponsoring a green t-shirt for $100 your contribution will bring us closer to reducing pollutants’ damaging effect on our environment.
In 2008, there were 549 streams, rivers and lakes in the Puget
Sound basin impaired by poor water quality — and in many cases, polluted
stormwater runoff was a contributing factor. By simply recycling and reducing
the amount of harsh chemicals we put down the storm drains, we can improve our
water quality. The Green t-shirt is more than a piece of clothing, it’s a
symbol. It represents a more sustainable and responsible way of living. When a
person wears this vibrant green shirt it will send small reminders to recycle,
conserve, reduce and educate others on the importance of protecting our
environment. When we begin to change our negative behaviors then the T-shirt has
done its job and made a positive impact on our earth: one small choice at a
time.
