Building Youth Through Music/WayOut Kids in the fight
against Childhood Obesity. Help us get kids to be active, eat
healthy, and have fun!
WayOut Kids/BYTM cares about today’s issues
facing our children. Our mission is to
use music
and multimedia as the platform for change and create alternative
learning opportunities for children.
Did you
know that?
A 2005 study
found that kids today may lead shorter lives by two to five
years than their parents because of obesity.
32% of
children and adolescents today — 25 million kids — are obese or
overweight, according to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
There has
been a decline of 10% in P.E and estimated that 2 – 5% of obese
children over 5 years of age have a nonalcoholic fatty liver,
moving liver disease into the fore-front of children’s extreme
health issues.
According to
the Center for Disease Control, over 9 Million children
ages 6 – 19 are overweight or obese and this number has tripled
since 1980. Furthermore, the obesity rate for preschool
children ages 2 – 5 has more than doubled.
What are
we doing to help in the fight?
Over the
past year our organization worked with sixteen vibrate children
and Rodney Raccoon to create a fitness, health & nutrition DVD
to help children, parents and educators.

Fun with Fitness DVD
|
This fun,
live-action educational fitness DVD was designed to pique the
interest of young children while motivating them to learn
nutrition and participate in physical activity. The video
focuses on a workout that helps in the development of strong and
healthy bodies by incorporating fun with Rodney Raccoon
and exercises that will promote strength, coordination, and
cardiovascular endurance. It also identifies the dangerous
amounts of sugar found in junk food, a wide array of fruits and
vegetables and stresses the importance of healthy food choices.
Studies have shown that more than 75% of children 6 – 11 do not
eat the minimum of 3 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of
fruit a day.
