In 2005 WayOut Records created WayOut Kids to
assist in
educating
using music.
Many studies have found that music plays an important role in helping
kids learn and recall information. In addition, as centuries of
tradition and modern vehicles such as Sesame Street have taught
us all, music in the lives of young children is a highly effective means
of delivering vital information about the world itself, as when it is
used to teach such basic content as counting, letters of alphabet,
colors, social skills, and the wonders of the natural world.
Music experiences can
help children prepare to learn to become literate as it helps them
become more aware of and focused on the phonemes that make up the
language or languages they will need to excel in school. When children
develop musical skill and understanding, they are developing basic
cognitive, social and motor skills necessary for success throughout the
educational process. They are preparing skills that will apply to
language, to literacy, and to life itself.
As young children
grown and develop, music continues as a basic medium not only of
communication, but of self-expression as well. Music also expands memory
and assists in developing crucial language skills.
Hip-Hop over the years
has emerged as the preferred choice of music for today's younger
generation. Clothing styles, athletic shoes, electronics and
entertainment have all felt its influence. Hip Hop has kids from all
socioeconomic, racial, and religious backgrounds listening.
Rodney Raccoon (a new
cartoon hip hop character) was developed to educate children to fun,
cool music. Using this modern style of music will add an exciting change
to the traditional style we all grew up on. Youth will be able to
embrace their style of music while learning the basic essentials needed
to move forward in life.
